Abomination of Desolation?
In Session 3, our main goal is to find out when the abomination of desolations occurs. We know the order in which Matthew 24 takes place, but we don't have the actual time. Jesus said in Matthew 24:15,
"Therefore when you see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place." "Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house. And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. But woe to those who are nursing babies in those days! (not fun to flee with a baby and nursing) And pray that your flight may not be in winter (miserable especially when they are told not to come back and get their clothes) or on the Sabbath (the religious Jews could only walk a certain distance). For then there will be great tribulation such as had not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. And unless those days (great tribulation) were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect's sake those days will be shortened."
We are told by Christ that the abomination of desolation comes right before the great tribulation, which will be cut short by the cosmic disturbances the sign of Christ coming to gather His elect!!! Knowing when the abomination of desolation takes place will tell us when the great tribulation will happen and when Christ gathers His people. This is an important question that begs to be answered by Daniel!
